Ghana captain Andre Ayew says they will back Asante Kotoko to do something great when the club takes part in the 2022/23 Caf Champions League.
The Porcupine Warriors will represent Ghana in the Caf club flagship competition after emerging as 2021/22 Ghana Premier League champions.
Speaking at the 2022 Calcio Trade Ball Awards held on Sunday, the Al Sadd forward congratulated Kotoko for their league triumph and pledged support for the team in their Africa campaign.
“Asante Kotoko won the league, congratulations to them,” Andre said. “We know how big of a team they are in Ghana. We will be behind and pray for them to do something great in Africa.”
The 32-year-old adds that the quality in the Ghana Premier League is improving, revealing he watches games involving Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko.
“I think we can see the progress. I watch the league, especially Hearts and Kotoko matches. I watch a lot of their games when I’m not playing, and I think the league is improving.
“I think the level of the players is also improving. I think the organization is getting better, and we are on the right step, but we are not there yet.
“But we are taking steps to get there, and I’ve seen a lot of good players, and the coaches have done a great job.”
