I’ll reveal things I wasn’t happy with as Ghana Coach in book – CK Akonnor

Charles Akonnor says he will reveal things he was not happy with during his tenure as Black Stars coach in a book.

The former Ghana captain was appointed as head coach of the Black Stars in January 2020 before the Ghana Football Association (GFA) terminated his appointment in September 2021 over the team’s unconvincing start to the 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifying.

A lot of Ghanaians were not happy that some players were getting call-ups to the Black Stars in Akonnor’s time when they were better alternatives, among other allegations.

He said he still supports the Black Stars because he loves his country but there were things he was not happy with as a coach.

“I still support the Black Stars. I’m a Ghanaian. I love my country. I was once the coach [and] it didn’t go well. It doesn’t mean anything. I am just not too happy with certain things but my love for my country still goes on,” he told TV3.

“There were things that I wasn’t happy with. I don’t like excuses but I love my country and I will support [them].

“It’s been a long story, a long journey but one day it [the problems] will come to an end. One day [I will tell the story], maybe in a book.”
