Black Stars captain Andre Ayew has been pictured in Parliament answering questions on Thursday, June 23, 2022, over Ghana’s abysmal 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) campaign.
The Legislative arm of government hauled the Al Sadd forward in February to give his account of what happened and Ghana endured its worst Afcon campaign in history in Cameroon as the leader of the players.
He could not honour the invite because the season was still in session and he was in Qatar for Al Sadd duties.
As the season is over, he’s in Ghana for holidays and so had to appear before the committee set up by parliament to probe why the Black Stars performed poorly in Cameroon.
Ghana exited the 2021 Afcon at the group stage without winning a game – the first time in history – after losing games to Morocco and Comoros, and drawing against Gabon.
It was the first time in 16 years Ghana did not qualify out of the group stage of an Afcon tournament.
