2022 WCQ: Swagger Black Stars thump Zimbabwe in Cape Coast [HIGHLIGHTS]

The Black Stars returned to winning ways with a thumping 3-1 win over Zimbabwe at the Cape Coast Stadium with some swagger football to kick off Milovan Rajevac’s second stint.

A dominant Ghana side won comfortably in a Group G third round 2022 World Cup qualifier to close down on South African, who won by the same scoreline earlier in Ethiopia Saturday, October 09, 2021.

Mohammed Kudus, Thomas Partey, and Andre Ayew were Ghana’s scorers, while Knowledge Musona converted from the spot for Zimbabwe’s consolation.

The Black Stars are back to winning ways after the second round defeat to South Africa last month.

The win means Ghana is now a point behind the Bafana Bafana, who have 7 points. Zimbabwe sits bottom of Group G with just a point.

Kudus scored a brilliant opener for Ghana in the 5th minute off a brilliant build-up from the left flank.

Jordan Ayew laid the ball back to the Ajax star, and he slotted in with his weak right foot.

The Warriors got the leveler through captain Musona’s effort from the spot four minutes into the second half.

He fired into the right top corner as goalkeeper Jojo Wollacott went the other way.

Jordan Zemura blasted the crossbar in the 57th minute with a great shot from the edge of the box.

Thomas Partey scored an individual goal in the 66th minute to put Ghana back ahead.

The Arsenal star stole the ball from a Zimbabwe defender, skipped past another, and tucked it into the near post.

Captain Andre scored a great header three minutes to the full-time whistle.

He connected well to a great delivery by Baba Rahman from the left flank to end the game 3-1 in favour of the Black Stars.

The two sides will face off in the return fixture in Harare on Tuesday, October 12, 2021.
